Job Description:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for total general ledger management in accordance with GAAP for multiple clients. This position is responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts and identifying and adjusting accrual entries necessary to accurately complete month-end close as well as contributing to developing junior members of the accounting team. You will need experience using electronic ledger systems, sound analytical and time-management skills, and to be extremely detail oriented to ensure the accuracy of financial reports. The Senior Accountant will be a lead contributor for the year-end audit and perform ad hoc projects as needed by management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead by example in adhering to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, serving as a model of compliance for the team.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior team members in their daily tasks, fostering a supportive environment conducive to professional growth and development.
- Review critical financial transactions, such as journal entries and reconciliations, prepared by junior team members, ensuring their accuracy and alignment with company standards.
- Champion the month-end and year-end close processes, orchestrating seamless coordination among team members to meet stringent deadlines and uphold reporting accuracy.
- Facilitate ongoing communication and knowledge-sharing within the team, imparting insights into accounting principles, software proficiency, and best practices.
- Provide support during financial audits, offering assistance in audit preparations and inquiries, thereby ensuring smooth audit outcomes.
- Conduct in-depth financial analyses and generate comprehensive reports revealing key insights, enabling informed decision-making by management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to optimize financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement innovative solutions that drive operational excellence.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, integrating new knowledge into daily operations.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the accounting team lead, contributing financial expertise and leadership to achieve project objectives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, actively soliciting feedback, encouraging experimentation, and championing initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
requirements & qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- 4 years of experience in accounting
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks & Sage preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Must be a self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail
- Experience in the implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls is desirable.
- Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, and possess excellent time-management skills with ability to meet deadlines on numerous projects in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- This position is based in our office and requires on-site presence during regular business hours. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position
